Symbols for washing

Symbol Waschen

The most common symbol on the laundry label. It indicates that the clothing item can be washed normally in the washing machine.

Symbol Waschen

The tub symbol indicates that the item can be washed in a washing machine. The figure quoted in the tub is the maximum temperature the garment can be washed at. Single bar under the tub indicates that the garment should be washed using reduced agitation. For Miele washing machines this is the Delicates or Minimum iron programme. Two bars under the tub indicate that the garment should be washed using Miele's Synthetic programme.

Symbol Waschen

Hand wash items. Garments with the handwash symbol can be washed in a Miele washing machine using the handwashable Woollens or the Silks care programme, or washed by hand at a temperature not exceeding 40°C. Important: do not wring or rub woollens when washing them.

Symbol Waschen

Dry clean only. They must not be washed in a domestic washing machines or by hand.

Symbols for drying

Symbol Trocknen

Forget the clothes line! This item can by dried in the dryer any time. The dots indicate the drying level. Two dots: the item can be dried at a normal temperature. One dot means caution: The item should be dried at a lower temperature, and in Miele tumble dryers the additional Low temperature option can also be selected.
Miele heat-pump dryers only dry at low heat (1dot) for very gentle laundry care.

Symbol Trocknen

Clothes-pegs are required here. Garments with this symbol on the care label must not be dried in a tumble dryer.

 

Symbols for ironing & rotary ironing

Symbol Bügeln & Mangeln

Effective removal of creases. An iron on the care label: textiles can be ironed with a hand iron as well as with a rotary ironer on low temperatures. The dots indicate the ironing temperature. 3 dots indicate approx. 200°C. 2 dots indicate approx 150°C. 1 dot indicates approx. 110°C.

Symbol Bügeln & Mangeln

Do not iron. Items carrying this symbol should neither be ironed nor passed through a rotary ironer.

 

Symbols for chlorine bleach

Symbol Chloren

Brilliant white: Any oxidising bleaching agent can be used.

Symbol Chloren

Chlorine-free zone: Do not bleach.

 

Symbols for dry-cleaning

Symbol Chemische Reinigung

F stands for hydrocarbons. A line under the symbol indicates that a lower level of agitation, reduced additional moisture and a reduction in temperature is required.

Symbol Chemische Reinigung

P indicates that the fabric should be cleaned using tetrachloroethylene or one of the solvents listed for symbol F. A line under the symbol indicates that a lower level of agitation, reduced additional moisture and a reduction in temperature is required. 

Symbol Chemische Reinigung

A circle with a cross through it means that the article should not be chemically dry-cleaned. It should be washed by hand.
